Let’s say you’re doing some photography around Moab and the conditions have been truly epic. Next thing you know, all your memory cards are full but you’ve still got a couple days in the area. The forecast is calling for white, fluffy clouds and unicorns flying over double rainbows in the warmest, most dramatic light in centuries. What do you do? You run (don’t walk) down to The Edge Gallery to pick up a couple Sandisk CF or SD cards so you won’t miss a single killer photo opportunity.
Now in our second year, we’re doing a few things different at The Edge Gallery. We’re evolving. We get as many photographers walking through the door as we do casual tourists and art collectors. They come in to ask questions about where and when to make photographs, chat about gear or share their own work with us. Often, they’re looking for a piece of equipment because their tripod failed to make it into their luggage, memory cards are bursting at the seams or their sensor needs to be cleaned. They’ve come to the right place. We’ve aligned with a few of the biggest names in the industry to offer a selection of items I’ve hand picked based upon my own years of experience with them.
For those of you who’ve run out of camera memory we’ve got Sandisk Extreme SD and CF cards in 8 GB and 16 GB sizes. Need some help planning your photo itinerary? We’ve got you covered with the entire collection of Laurent Martres’ award winning “Photographing the Southwest” books, Michael Frye’s classic “The Photographer’s Guide to Yosemite” and Colleen Miniuk-Sperry’s fantastic “Wild in Arizona: Photographing Arizona’s Wildflowers”. My e-book, “The Essential Guide to Photographing Arches National Park” is also available. We brought in the best ballheads on the market for outdoor photographers – the Acratech GP and Ultimate Ballheads. The GP ballhead not only functions as a ballhead, but as a leveling base for stitched panoramics. Within the next few weeks we’ll add a great selection of f-stop gear backpacks and Induro Tripods to our product offering. We’re also currently researching sensor cleaning products and will have something in the gallery by mid-summer.
Don’t want to hassle with transporting a tripod on an airplane? Did your tripod implode from exposure to the harsh desert elements? No worries! We’ll also be renting Induro tripods topped with an Acratech GP ballhead. And, if you end up loving the tripod or ballhead we’ll apply a portion of the rental fee toward the purchase price of a new one.
Next time you’re in Moab be sure to stop in to The Edge Gallery to see what we’ve been up to lately!
