Good question, Jon. I think the name is a bit misleading. I don't claim to be an expert but I believe the Camera RAW cache is simply a place where some of the information about the original file is stored so that previews in the Develop module render a little bit faster. I don't think it matters what format those original files are in (RAW, JPEG, TIFF). I could be wrong and if I am, I hope someone will correct me.

Thanks! Does the RAW cache only affect working with RAW files though? I shoot mostly JPEG, so I'm curious. Thanks

Bret, HP does make a large format pigment machine, the Z3200. Ink cost less, and the machine uses less. B&W is pure grayscale, no color inks used. Dmax on matte is better than on any silver gelatin I've ever made (or seen), and I spent 20 years in a darkroom. borderless is a snap, and the changeover from MK to PK is instantaneous and costless.

I've had many epsons, and currently have a 3800, which as of now has been relegated to 8X10 and 11X14's because the HP is MUCH cheaper for anything large. I very much prefer the HP to the epson. If you havn't jumped, feel free to call..
