My good friend Guy Tal has just released his newest e-book, “Creative Black and White Processing Techniques“.  Guy was kind enough to provide me with an advance copy and I’ve only had time to skim it but as you would expect, it’s nothing short of amazing. 

Digital black and white photography can be every bit as dramatic as analog monochromes when the conversion from color is done properly using good technique.  “Creative Black and White Processing Techniques” gives you a toolbox packed with everything you’ll need to learn how to make powerful monochrome images.  Many other resources on the topic spend too much time on the technical aspects of using the digital darkroom to create black and white images.  While Guy’s book certainly has this covered, he also offers many tips on the theory of black and white photography.  Guy uses Lightroom and Photoshop for all of his conversions but even those of you who, like me, use other methods (Nik Software’s ridiculously awesome Silver Efex Pro 2!) will find plenty of value in Guy’s e-book to justify the minimal $9.95 investment.
